The Center for Sport Management Research and Education (CSMRE) at Texas A&M University played to host last year's 9th Annual Sport Marketing Association (SMA) Conference.

The conference took place in Houston October 26-29. The Inn at the Ballpark, directly across from Minute Maid Park, will served as the host hotel. Other events held during the conference were hosted at Houston sports venues, including Reliant Stadium, the Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park.

As its mission, SMA endeavors to develop beneficial relationships between sport marketing professionals and academicians through expansion of the field's body of knowledge and multiple forums for professional interaction. SMA conferences focus on the association's mission by meshing presentations from both well known sport practitioners with leading sport marketing professors and scholars. Such blending provides anyone interested in current sport marketing practices with a fertile learning platform.

The Center for Sport Management Research and Education, the outreach agent of the sport management program at Texas A&M University, was an ideal host for this event. The event allowed the Center to promote and exhibit its focus on the creation of timely and appropriate actionable knowledge concerning the practice and application of sport management. Center stakeholders, including Texas A&M University students, faculty and staff, benefited from hosting the conference. CSMRE advisory board members provided support for the conference.
